Emergency fund calculator
How much reserve to keep and how long to reach the target.
Work out the ideal size of your emergency fund from your essential monthly expenses and how many months you want to cover (3, 6, 9 or 12). The tool shows the target, how much is still missing and — if you enter a monthly deposit — how long it takes to complete the reserve, with a progress bar and an accumulation chart toward the goal.
Frequently asked questions
How many months of reserve do I need?
A common benchmark is 6 months of essential expenses. People with stable income can keep 3; freelancers and those with variable income often aim for 12 months due to greater unpredictability.
Where should I keep the emergency fund?
In something safe with instant liquidity: a treasury/savings account or daily-liquidity fixed income. Never in stocks, crypto or locked funds — the reserve must be available the moment an emergency hits.
Are essential expenses the same as my salary?
No. Count only what is essential to live: housing, bills, food, transport and health. Subscriptions and leisure can be cut in an emergency, so they need not enter the minimum-reserve calculation.
