Does conversion lose quality?
Conversion uses 92% quality, visually identical to the original for photos. The JPG tends to be a bit larger than the HEIC, since HEIC compresses better.
Does it work with Live Photos and HEIF?
Yes. Live Photos convert using the main image frame, and .heif files are handled the same way as .heic.
Why won’t Windows open HEIC files?
Windows requires the paid "HEVC Video Extensions" add-on to open HEIC natively. Converting to JPG is the free, permanent fix.
