Frequently asked questions

Who pays no income tax in 2026?

Since 01/01/2026, anyone with monthly taxable income up to R$ 5,000 has their withholding zeroed by a reduction created by Brazil’s Income Reform. Between R$ 5,000.01 and R$ 7,350 there is a decreasing partial reduction; above that, the normal table applies.

How does progressive INSS work?

Each salary band pays its own rate: 7.5% up to R$ 1,621 (the 2026 minimum wage), then 9%, 12% and 14% up to the R$ 8,475.55 cap. The maximum possible deduction is R$ 988.09 — earnings above the cap pay no more than that.

What is the simplified income tax deduction?

A flat R$ 607.20 deduction that replaces the legal deductions (INSS, dependents, alimony) whenever it is more favorable. The calculator tests both regimes automatically and applies whichever yields less tax.
